10 Years

Today marks:

10 years Home.
10 years immersed in God’s glory.
10 years healed.
10 years whole.
10 years missed.

Oh, to be where you are…

Love you and miss you, Richard Felipe!!!

“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
I Peter‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.

A Letter to God from Richard Felipe, 2009

Richard Felipe, 3rd anniversaryIn early 2009, Richard and I attended a prayer & worship meeting at Metro Church; continuing to ask the Lord to heal him from esophageal, stage 4, cancer. At one point, Richard got up and was looking for something to write on…it appeared he had to write something down quickly. After searching for paper and pen, the only thing he could find was a brown paper bag.
On it, he wrote the following note to his Heavenly Father; a truly transparent letter that I treasure to this day and keep tucked inside Richard’s bible. On this, the 3rd anniversary of Richard’s Home-going to Heaven, I’d like to share with all of you:

A Letter to God from Richard Felipe, 2009:

Your grace is enough for me. But shall I not indulge in all of Your goodness, such as healing and long life? To live is Christ and to die is gain. It’s a win win…

So we fight to live, to serve, to participate in the manifestation of Your movement; to enter into a place where my heart breaks with the things that break Your heart. Share it with me, Lord. Share the pain and joy.

My temple is Your temple. I’m put as a steward only. Ooops, Sorry Dad, it got broken. Can You fix it or give me a new one? I’ll try and do better next time. If we have time?

Teach me, reveal Yourself to me in this pain. Don’t take it away if or until You teach me what You want to teach me. Holy Spirit, you’re a great teacher.

So, I got to believe there is an awesome lesson hidden here; an amazing treasure that is guarded by a huge fortress that is feared by all. What’s behind it Lord? What Your secret, Father? It’s a special facet of your heart. Knowing You- it is an amazing treasure worth selling everything to obtain the field where it is buried. You do not have to show me Your wonders for me to know how wonderful You are. You don’t have to show me Your might for me to know You are mighty. You don’t even have to heal me to prove You love me. You don’t have to show me signs and wonders for me to know You can.

What the enemy has purposed for death and destruction, God can turn beauty from ashes, weakness to strength, shame to glory, despair to hope, sadness to joy, weakness to strength.

We Love You…

Richard is in heaven!

Dear friends,

Our beloved brother Richard Felipe went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, June 10th. As many of you know, he battled with cancer in his flesh but his spirit stayed strong throughout. He has received the ultimate healing and is now in heaven!

“…the time has come for my departure.  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:6-8

Please join us as we celebrate Richard’s life!!

There will be a Viewing on Monday, June 15th, as follows:

Wardrobe: Richard loved life and covered the spectrum in regards to his fashion sense. He would go from a slick suit and crazy tie to a loud Hawaiian shirts or perhaps a Cuban Guaybera shirt and hat. But, no matter what he wore, he was ALWAYS known for his outspoken socks. Our desire is to celebrate Richard’s life and sense of humor. With that in mind, please feel free to honor Richard in your wardrobe selection for the memorial service.

It was also Richard’s desire to celebrate his life with a service – followed by a potluck!
Please bring a dish to share, as follows:
A-H Side Dish/Salad
I-M Dessert
N-Z Main Dish
*Drinks will be provided.

**In lieu of flowers, Richard would be honored if you would make a donation to a charity very near and dear to his heart (and place of work). Donations can be mailed to the Union Rescue Mission at 545 S San Pedro St, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Please put in the memo line that this gift is made in memory of Richard Felipe. Or you can donate by credit card at 213.347.6300 ext. 4404 (Kenneth Taylor). Union Rescue Mision
